- ➤ EvilleCon will take over the Owensboro Convention Center from March 20 to 22, featuring over 40 vendors, cosplay guests and interactive contests. The ticketed event offers fans a safe space to celebrate pop culture with live music and community meetups. The Owensboro Times

- ➤ The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office held its annual awards banquet Tuesday at the MG D. Allen Youngman Readiness Center in Owensboro, honoring Deputy Preston Schilke for a life-saving rescue after a motorcycle crash and Deputy Ed Hoskins for 60 years of service, with over 180 awards given. - ➤ Gov. Beshear announced a statewide plan to inspect carbon monoxide safety in older school buildings. The initiative will soon extend to daycares and senior living facilities, and Team Kentucky will work with local inspectors (using CO detectors) to ensure safer heating systems. 44 News

- ➤ Deborah Nunley-Winters, a trailblazer in local real estate and civic leadership, died Jan. 1 in Louisville at 74 after a brief illness. She was known for her roles with Century 21 and public service in Owensboro, and visitation is planned at Glenn Funeral Home on Jan. 11. The Owensboro Times

- ➤ On January 6, the Lady Hornets edged Trinity (Whitesville) 40-38 with Ansley House scoring 16 points while Owensboro cruised past Hopkinsville 66-25 with Abby Sapp scoring 20 points. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ The Owensboro Sportscenter will host the Kentucky 2A State Basketball Championships from Jan. 16–18, where boys' and girls' contests will conclude on Sunday. Games tip off at 9 a.m. on Friday, and Sunday matchups begin with girls at noon & boys at 2 p.m. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ The City of Owensboro announced the name of its new indoor sports facility: Bluegrass Fieldhouse (under construction). It will host sports tournaments to attract athletes and boost local tourism. 44 News
