  • Atmos Energy urges Owensboro customers to prepare for extreme winter weather by checking gas piping, adjusting thermostats, and following maintenance guidelines today.   • Apollo High School runs a wallet program that gives JAG students a wallet or ID case when they pass their tests or enlist, and local shoppers can support the effort by donating extra wallets from outlet deals.   • Hazardous road conditions and multiple weather-related wrecks were reported yesterday, and the National Weather Service forecast a significant winter storm — with heavy snow and dangerous cold expected from Friday night through Sunday afternoon — prompting officials to advise extra caution.  The Owensboro Times

  • Today, Owensboro residents are reminded that Kentucky law prohibits leaving running vehicles unattended even when trying to warm up on cold mornings. The rule is designed to help prevent car theft and requires drivers to shut off their engines when leaving their cars.  WOMI Owensboro

  • Natalie Payne reached her 131st win Tuesday night after her team won 62-35 over South Warren, making her the highest winning coach in Daviess County girls’ basketball history — she credited players and parents for the success.  The Owensboro Times
  • Owensboro Catholic dominated the girls’ All A Classic State Tournament at home, winning 67-26 over Pineville and will host Owen County on Friday at 8:30 a.m. The Lady Aces showed strong defense and teamwork throughout the game.  The Owensboro Times
