Burns Middle School’s cheer team won its first national championship last weekend in Orlando — they beat 17 teams with a final score of 91.1, led by head coach Robyn Ebelhar and Sara Lanham.
This win marks a historic moment for the school community.
Today, local cheerleading teams traveled to Orlando for the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship DII, with Apollo finishing seventh, Owensboro’s Black Squad missing advancement by 0.1 point, and Owensboro Catholic earning its first nationals appearance in over 30 years by placing 12th.
Over 500 archers from Kentucky and nearby states competed in USA Archery's 57th Indoor Nationals tournament over the weekend at the Owensboro Convention Center.
This past weekend, Owensboro Catholic Cheer competed at the national championship in Orlando, Florida after a 30-year absence.
The team finished 12th in Preliminary Group B and said their hard work and teamwork marked a historic moment for their school.
