- ➤ Jerry Morris and the Angels for Ashley Cooking Team will cook Boston butts, ribs and chicken at Whitesville Mercantile then sell them at Shoe Stop + other local spots on Thursday and Friday to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital; a raffle for an antique tractor adds to the event. - ➤ A new childcare facility is coming to Owensboro thanks to a $6.6 million federal funding announced by Senator Mitch McConnell. The Owensboro Family YMCA will redevelop an existing building to expand affordable daycare for local families. 44 News
- ➤ Today, Owensboro seniors begin the new Senior Activities Day at Dugan Best Recreation Center where they can enjoy board games & table tennis and some community time. More sessions are scheduled for Feb. 11, 18 and 25 from 10:00 p.m. to noon. 14 News

- ➤ WPT Nonwovens will add 12 jobs at its Beaver Dam facility to meet rising demand for fiber-optic cables driven by an AI expansion, announced this week. The move supports local innovation in manufacturing and tech growth. The Owensboro Times

- ➤ The Western Kentucky Botanical Garden will host its 14th annual Orchid Show & Sale this Saturday. Horticulturist Laramie Stone cared for Phalaenopsis orchids in the conservatory (as she prepped for the event) as the garden gets ready for visitors. Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer
- ➤ During a Black History Month event in Frankfort yesterday, local officials honored Owensboro native Moneta Sleet Jr. with the 2026 Living Legacy Award — recognizing his influential photography during the civil rights movement. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Owensboro Community and Technical College is teaming with the Cliff Hagan Boys and Girls Club to launch an eight-week Workforce Academy beginning Feb. 11 at the Campus on Frederica Street. The program will serve 24 students and wrap up with a ceremony on April 1 (with scholarship applications opening then). 44 News
- ➤ Public Works officials said they began plowing every Owensboro street two days ago — temperatures below freezing for two weeks — which kept roads unsafe and delayed the return of in-person school. Schools and Public Works are working together to clear key bus routes so students can go back soon. 14 News
