- ➤ United Way of the Ohio Valley awarded $185,000 in Impact Funding to nonprofits serving Daviess and Union counties on Tuesday (Feb. 10). The funds support affordable housing, homelessness prevention, and financial mobility, with awards to organizations including Owensboro Regional Recovery and St. Benedict’s Shelter. - ➤ MentorKids Kentucky will celebrate its new facility on March 10 with a ribbon cutting at 11:30 a.m., leaders’ luncheon until 1 p.m., and an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. at 2809 Veach Road — a remodeled space designed to support local youth with secure access and learning zones. - ➤ Cornerstone Community Bank received conditional approval from state and federal regulators and plans to open in June 2026 at 1819 Frederica Street across from Owensboro High School. - ➤ Starbucks will open inside downtown Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Waterfront later this summer, replacing the former bourbon shop. Hotel owner BryantCorp said the new coffee shop will serve guests and the public with its full menu and mobile ordering while creating 10-15 new jobs. The Owensboro Times

- ➤ A special edition of the free Brown Bag Lunch Concert series will feature husband-and-wife duo Tom and Andrea Drury today at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church as they perform love songs ranging from Puccini to Rodgers and Hammerstein. The Owensboro Times
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Owensboro Museum of Fine Art will host its free Spring Break Free Art Camp from April 7-10 for children ages 6-15, featuring creative projects in painting, sculpting and mixed media. Reservations are required so families should contact the museum to secure a spot. The Owensboro Times
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport will soon begin its new LED runway lighting project to upgrade safety and efficiency. Construction is set to start in the coming weeks (exact dates have not yet been announced). Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday morning, Owensboro Health announced its FY26 Community Health Investments grants, directing funds to 16 organizations addressing food insecurity, mental health, senior services, and addiction recovery in the region — an effort to weave the health system into the community's fabric.
