COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Pleasant Valley Community Church has launched its Teleios ministry to support children, students, and adults with disabilities after raising over $110,000 in a Christmas offering. The church will host its first Teleios Family Lunch (March 1) for families to connect and provide feedback on future services.  The Owensboro Times
  • Dee Wardsky (a local disc golf player) has gotten Daviess County Parks' approval to set up free disc golf starter boxes at Yellow Creek Park and Panther Creek Park on Sunday, Feb. 15. She donated 50 discs to help newcomers try disc golf at no cost.  The Owensboro Times
  • Night to Shine Owensboro, hosted by Life Community Church, brought nearly 300 guests together for an evening of red carpet experiences — rides, dinner, and dancing — that celebrated community connection. Volunteers supported the event and showed that everyone belongs.  The Owensboro Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • Theatre Workshop of Owensboro will host an adult acting workshop on Feb. 28 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Empress Theatre (418 Frederica St.) led by Elliott Talkington, offering core performance skills for auditions and callbacks for a $10 fee.  The Owensboro Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Yesterday, McLean County beat Trinity (Whitesville) 86-56, Daviess County edged Bethlehem 51-50, and Owensboro Catholic defeated North Hardin 64-48 in girls' basketball games. Standout scorers included Riley Hayden with 25 points and Karlee Floyd with 21.  The Owensboro Times
  • Last weekend, Owensboro natives competed in the KFWC Middle School and Youth Girls State Championship in Corbin, where 362 wrestlers took part across 48 divisions. Aces Youth Wrestling and Lights Out Wrestling produced several podium finishes (including a second place for Carter Bradshaw), highlighting the strength and sportsmanship of athletes.  The Owensboro Times
