  • Beef 'O' Brady’s is hosting a fundraiser tomorrow (Feb. 26) from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. to help cover funeral expenses for longtime server Rene Howard, donating a portion of all dine-in and carry-out sales to support her family.  Owensboro Radio

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Owensboro Community & Technical College is hosting a program fair for high school students on March 5 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Industry Innovation Center on campus, so students can explore academic and technical programs for high-demand careers and learn about admissions and financial aid.  44 News
  • Klutch Barber Expo returns to the Owensboro Convention Center on March 15, offering a full-day event with professional education sessions, live competitions, and industry vendors. Doors open at 8 a.m.—sessions start at 9 a.m.—as the expo helps barbers and stylists build sustainable careers.  The Owensboro Times
  • The Foundation for Daviess County Public Schools announced that Readers to Leaders (a program linking reading with career insights) returns on Feb. 27 at Southern Oaks Elementary and Mar. 4 at Audubon Elementary; community members are invited to volunteer to join the initiative.  The Owensboro Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Spectrum services in Owensboro and surrounding areas were restored after an overnight outage, with Evansville’s service returning just after 1:30 a.m.—Union County Dispatchers said their non-emergency line is still down and advised calling 9-1-1 if needed.  14 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Owensboro Boys Basketball head coach Rod Drake announced his retirement after 25 seasons, marking four 3rd Region titles + a State Championship in 2015. He now plans to continue teaching and pursue higher-level coaching.  The Owensboro Times
  • Daviess County Panthers beat the Red Devils 72-57 today to advance to the 9th District Championship & secure a spot in the 3rd Region Tournament. Owensboro ended its season when head coach Rod Drake announced his retirement.  The Owensboro Times
