  • St. Benedict's Shelter will host its 10th Tables of Hope Banquet (Hope in Bloom) on Friday, Apr. 17 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Joseph and Paul Parish Hall; executive director Harry Pedigo will deliver a keynote and unveil new programming featuring a silent auction and dinner by Nona’s.  44 News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Owensboro-based Specialty Foods Group, LLC withdrew Kentucky Legend ham from Walmart after weight labeling discrepancies led to overcharges — the company said it reinforced quality control measures and will donate the withdrawn products.  44 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Owensboro Symphony will pay tribute to legendary film composer John Williams by performing pieces from Star Wars, E.T., Jaws, Jurassic Park, and Harry Potter. The concert is set for March 7 at 7 p.m. at the RiverPark Center.  14 News
  • Ramsey Theater Company will stage Steel Magnolias at the RiverPark Center in Owensboro at 7 p.m. Saturday, marking its first regional tour as it blends out-of-town professionals with local talent and celebrates strong women on the eve of Women’s History Month.  The Owensboro Times
  • Faith Fest Spring returns Friday at the Islamic Center for an interfaith discussion on fasting & prayer featuring Dr. Aseedu Kalik and Father John Thomas. EDUCATION NEWS

  • FFA students competed in a hands-on culinary challenge on a local farm as part of Burger Week on Feb. 25. Apollo secured first place ahead of Owensboro Catholic, Trinity, and Daviess County while community leaders evaluated the burger recipes.  The Owensboro Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Today, nearly 1,000 archers begin competing at Owensboro Convention Center as the 2026 S3DA Eastern Indoor Nationals runs through March 1 — the event features modified NFAA rounds and a national collegiate signing day scheduled for tomorrow.  The Owensboro Times
  • Daviess County athletes were honored at the KABC awards on Wednesday, Feb. 25. The Lady Panthers saw Natalie Payne named Coach of the Year and Kennedy Lane named Player of the Year as Jonathan Moss and Whitesville’s Nathan West also earned honors.  The Owensboro Times
  • The Owensboro Sportscenter will host the KCAA State Basketball Championships on Friday, Feb. 27 and Saturday, Feb. 28, with boys’ and girls’ tournaments and scholarship presentations planned during the event. Tournament games will be streamed on PrepSpin + local teams will vie for state titles.  The Owensboro Times
  • Rod Drake, the longtime head coach of Owensboro High School boys basketball, resigned Tuesday as officials began searching for his successor—he led the team to a state championship in 2015 and coached over 500 games.  44 News
  • Local wrestlers from Apollo, Daviess County, and Owensboro Catholic head to Lexington for the KHSAA State Wrestling Championships — starting today through Saturday. The teams include undefeated athletes and rising stars aiming for podium finishes.  The Owensboro Times
