  • On March 9, Cheetah Clean Auto Wash will host Evan Hampton Celebration Day at its Frederica location — 4710 Frederica Street — from noon to 1, offering food trucks, a chance to meet Evan, and donating 50% of wash proceeds to Borrowed Hearts to support local families.  44 News
  • Owensboro Burger Week runs from March 5 to 14, 2026, offering nearly 60 $8 burger deals and creative dessert treats from local bakeries like Doozie Doez, Becca Bakes and Bluegrass Bourbon Dessert Bar, with some dessert sales supporting the Dannheiser Fund For Kids.  WOMI Owensboro

  • Owensboro Symphony will honor John Williams' legacy Saturday at RiverPark Center + doors open at 6 p.m. for a pre-concert chat with music director Troy Quinn before a performance featuring film scores like Star Wars and Jaws.  The Owensboro Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Burns Middle School speech team (in its second season) earned a School of Distinction award and tied for 14th overall among 29 schools at the Junior State Speech competition despite a shortened schedule due to winter cancellations.  The Owensboro Times
  • Teen Week 2026, hosted by the Owensboro Youth Empowerment Summit, will run from March 9-11 with free workshops (for resume building, job searching and financial literacy) to help middle and high school students gain practical skills.  The Owensboro Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Brescia University’s Lady Bearcats lost 83-64 to defending champion Rio Grande last night in the River States Conference Tournament final — they punched their ticket to the NAIA National Championship and will await placement at the selection show this Thursday at 7pm.  The Owensboro Times
  • The Apollo Eagles reached the 3rd Region Tournament semi-finals for the first time since 2018 by winning 61-38 and limiting Ohio County to nine first-half points. They will play Meade County on Saturday at 7:45 p.m., and Coach Ryne Tinsley praised their defense (among the season's best).  The Owensboro Times
