A group of community leaders in Owensboro is building a 20,000 square foot temperature controlled warehouse—designed to store donated food safely and help local pantries serve more than 15,000 people facing hunger.

The project needs $4.35 million with $1.2 million already raised including a $100,000 pledge from the city—officials now ask for extra funds to meet the remaining cost.

Jeremiah Byrd pleaded guilty to the June 21, 2023 murder of Gaymee Paw near Ben Hawes Park — he faces a 25-year prison term with 20 years for murder, and his sentencing hearing is set for May 23 when Paw's family may testify.
