  • Trunnell's Market and Farm Experience will host its first Tulip Festival featuring over 100,000 tulips in 28 varieties arranged like a butterfly and Egg-Ceptional Easter Egg Hunts for families. The festival begins either last weekend in March or first weekend in April, weather permitting.  The Owensboro Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • Burger Week 2026 is over, giving Owensboro residents a chance to sample 59 unique burgers from local eateries. A review by Christy Chaney highlighted top picks from Lure Seafood and Grille and Libertalia Coffee and Bagels while encouraging support for burger sides.  The Owensboro Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Sorgho Elementary principal Marjie Pippin will retire at the end of the school year after nearly 28 years with Daviess County Public Schools. She said family needs + timing influenced her decision following a career devoted to education.  The Owensboro Times
  • RiverPark Center will offer three youth arts camps this summer that let children explore performing arts. Rising Stars Camp runs June 8-12 for ages 6-9, Summer Theatre Academy is scheduled for June 15-26 for ages 10-18, and Imagination Camp will occur July 27-31 for ages 7-10.  The Owensboro Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Kentucky lawmakers are considering a bill that will add a 4% regulatory fee on alcoholic and cannabis drinks, with some parts set to take effect immediately and full measures starting July 1 - the bill brings wholesale fees while hospitality groups caution it may boost monthly costs.  14 News
  • Governor Beshear vetoed House Bill 1 on Friday, stopping a plan to let Kentucky access a federal scholarship tax credit program that would have kept private donations in-state + lawmakers say they plan to override his decision next week.  14 News

  • The Owensboro Times has announced its 2026 Girls’ Bowling All-OT Team featuring high school bowlers from our area; Bowler of the Year finalists, selected by local coaches (including nominees from Apollo and Owensboro Catholic), will be honored at an awards ceremony in May.  The Owensboro Times
