- ➤ Residents can attend the Owensboro Human Relations Commission forum on gun violence Monday, Mar. 23 at City Hall Chambers at 6 p.m. The forum will invite public feedback from local schools, police and community groups to help build safer neighborhoods. 44 News

- ➤ Bluegrass musicians and fans will gather in Owensboro for KY Fried Pickin' at the Holiday Inn Riverfront March 19–21 (a free three-day celebration with jam sessions and workshops, including guitar and mandolin sessions). - ➤ The Owensboro Art Guild’s 64th Annual Juried Exhibition features 81 artists from Kentucky and surrounding states competing for over $8,000 in awards, and an Owensboro artist won Best in Show. The exhibition continues until May 8. Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer

- ➤ Kendal Quinton (assistant principal for 4 years) will start as Meadow Lands Elementary's new principal on July 1. Daviess County Public Schools announced her appointment Tuesday afternoon and said she will build on the school's academic strength and supportive culture. 44 News
- ➤ Bob Dych has been named director of secondary schools at Daviess County Public Schools to succeed retiring Jennifer Crume on May 31; currently serving as principal at Apollo High School, he will support middle and high schools and oversee programs at Valley School, Owensboro Day Treatment (and the Virtual Academy). GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Kentucky's school choice law will give families access to the Education Freedom Tax Credit program after the Senate overrode Gov. Beshear's veto from a March 13 House override. Lawmakers say funds will support scholarship organizations rather than direct school funding, and the bill now awaits the secretary of state's signature. WDRB
- ➤ City officials toured active construction sites yesterday, including an indoor sports facility set to open in July that will feature seven hardwood courts, a nearly complete fire station with new health measures, a senior center expected in September, and a pickleball complex planned for mid-summer & an industrial site preparation.
