  • Habitat for Humanity Owensboro-Daviess County will host its annual Spring Warehouse Sale tomorrow at its headquarters at 2930 West 4th Street starting at 8 a.m., offering building materials, appliances, replacement windows, interior/exterior doors, furniture & more; all proceeds will fund the construction materials for new houses.  The Owensboro Times
  • It Takes a Village has named SEBASTIAN, a handsome 65-pound husky mix, as its pet of the week and he is ready for adoption. The dog celebrated his 2nd birthday in January and enjoys playing with kids and other dogs (but not cats), so potential adopters should apply for his forever home.  WOMI Owensboro
  • Tucker's Treehouse is a new non-profit launching in Owensboro to give kids aged 6 to 18 a safe space to express their grief through art, music, and play. The group is working with local agencies + will hold an 'It's Okay if You're NOT Okay' 5k on Saturday September 13 to help fund the needed building renovations.  WOMI Owensboro
  • The Green River Community Food Warehouse plans to build a 20,000ft² temperature-controlled warehouse in Daviess County to store up to 20 truckloads of food each month and serve about 30 pantries & kitchens in Owensboro. The group has already received over $1 million in pledges from groups like Help Office & Owensboro Health and will soon choose a site of around 3 acres to begin the project.  TriStateHomepage.com
  • Daviess County will host its annual fireworks show at Yellow Creek Park on July 3. Organizers moved the launch point to the parking lot near the lake for better viewing—Fiscal Court approved contracts with Star Pyro for fireworks and The Eric Group for live music.  The Owensboro Times

  • The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said KY 56 in Daviess County is open after downed power lines blocked both lanes between the 11.8 and 11.9 mile markers near the KY 279 intersection+ eastbound traffic detoured via KY 279 while westbound traffic used Lyddane Bridge Road.  TriStateHomepage.com
  • Attorney General Russell Coleman warned Kentuckians about scams after a hail storm on March 15 damaged homes, vehicles, and public buildings in Owensboro and Daviess County. Local insurance agents reported over 10,000 claims filed and officials advised residents to verify contractor licenses—key steps to prevent fraud.  TriStateHomepage.com
  • Starting April 1, the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office will take over animal control duties by absorbing three Animal Control Officers while ITV assumes management of the county animal shelter. The change lets the officers focus on law enforcement tasks — like serving civil papers and managing traffic at major incidents— and prompts the Fiscal Court to revise ordinances to support the new structure.  The Owensboro Times
