- ➤ Cinderella’s Closet of Western Kentucky is hosting its annual free prom event at Owensboro Christian Church where over 200 students will receive dresses, shoes, and accessories and be paired with a volunteer (fairy godmother) to boost their confidence. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ Reserved seating for the Owensboro Air Show is on sale at the Convention Center for Sept. 11-13 and will offer a better view of the event headlined by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, while free viewing remains along the riverfront. 14 News
- ➤ Owensboro native Julius Maddox spoke Saturday night at the H.L. Neblett Community Center for Neblett’s Strongest Night, a fundraiser that supports the center's programs in the community. Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ KWC's radio station WKWC 90.3 participated in the BEA Festival of Media Arts (its sixth appearance) and won two awards; instructor Derik Hancock was recognized for long-form production and a promo for summer programming. Winners will be celebrated at the BEA convention in Las Vegas in April. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ Carrie Munsey, principal at Tamarack Elementary, will retire at the end of the school year after nearly 30 years in education. During her tenure, the school earned National Blue Ribbon status & built strong community bonds as she rose from classroom teacher to leader. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ The Daviess County Cooperative Extension Service will host an educational program on ruby-throated hummingbirds on Tuesday, March 24 at 1 p.m. at its office on New Hartford Road — guest speaker Cyndi Routledge will explain the bird's traits and migration, and the event is free to attend. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ On March 21, Owensboro boys split a double header while Daviess County won both matches. The contests saw wins in singles and doubles with scores of 7 to 2, 9 to 0, and 6 to 3. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ The Owensboro Times has named its 2026 Boys’ Swimming All-OT Team and Swimmer of the Year finalists after local high school coaches made the selections. The finalists will join an awards ceremony in May where the winner will be announced. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ On March 21, Owensboro Catholic swept a double-header, Daviess County tied with Liberty Creek and beat Riverdale 7-5, and Meade County edged Apollo 5-4 with standout batting from Wettstain, Ramirez and Hall. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ On March 21, McLean County swept their doubleheader with wins of 10-0 and 6-4 while Daviess beat Bethlehem 8-3. Local teams struggled as Owensboro lost a 1-0 pitchers’ duel to Muhlenberg County and Owensboro Catholic dropped both round robin games. The Owensboro Times
