COMMUNITY NEWS

  • United Way of the Ohio Valley awarded $106,500 in Impact Grants on Wednesday to seven local nonprofits that work in affordable housing, homelessness & financial stability programs. Each organization received between $6,500 and $20,000 from funds set aside through the annual campaign.  The Owensboro Times
  • Moreland Park reopened on March 26th with updated playground equipment for children including play areas for kids aged 5 to 12 and 2 to 5 featuring sensory panels and a wheelchair accessible whirl, a connected trail of climbable rocks — and a solar powered bench for charging phones.  14 News

CRIME NEWS

  • Owensboro Police are asking the public to help locate 34-year-old Kenneth Dale Rednour, who was last seen March 19 and is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, and having brown hair and brown eyes—anyone with information should call the department.  14 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Local high schools have announced graduation plans for the 2024-25 school year with ceremonies set for Trinity High School on May 16 at Horn Community Center, Owensboro Innovation Academy on May 17 at Owensboro Christian Church, Emerson Academy on May 19 at Owensboro High School auditorium, Heritage Park High School on May 19 at Owensboro Convention Center, Apollo High School on May 19 at its football stadium, Owensboro High School on May 20 at Rash Stadium, and Daviess County High School on May 21 at its football stadium. Rain dates are set for Owensboro High on May 21, Apollo High on May 20, and Daviess County High on May 22 in case of bad weather.  The Owensboro Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Daviess County plans to upgrade its parks with new restrooms and picnic shelters; demolition will begin this week at Yellow Creek Park—home to Shelter #1 and a new restroom facility near the pickleball courts—while Panther Creek Park will replace the unscreened Whispering Wind Shelter, with all upgrades complete by late summer.  Daviess County
