The main hall of the Owensboro Convention Center was busy Saturday afternoon—many shoppers found bargains at the Owensboro Flea Market.

5th and Walnut Thrift Store—known as Thrift with a Purpose—helps shelter residents gain needed items through a voucher program while offering $5 credits for volunteering.

The store operates Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and seeks an offsite building to expand community services.

Isaac Sterett Adventure Foundation will hold its third annual Operation Community Cleanup on April 26 at 7:30 a.m. at 1010 Allen Street to fight rising litter problems in the community.

Teams (including families, businesses, schools and organizations) will compete for awards such as a trash can trophy as they work to make the city cleaner.
