COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Two Daviess County men, Basham and Hetman, have been selected for induction into the state Veterans Hall of Fame later this year. They served the country and now help fellow veterans in the community.  Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer
  • The Cottage Farm Stand and Baking Co. will host the Burgers + Barnyard Bash on Sat., Apr. 11 and Sun., Apr. 12 at 6869 Hwy 56; the free event features grilling of Owensburger and Daviess County Double burgers, games, mini golf, and animal exhibits from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  WOMI Owensboro

CULTURE NEWS

  • Owensboro Symphony will host its free Motown-themed Summer Salute concert at 7 p.m. on June 6 at McConnell Plaza on the downtown riverfront. Grammy Award-winning vocalists will perform + VIP seating options go on sale starting April 6.  The Owensboro Times
  • Officials announced the Holiday Drive-In will open on May 1-3 at 646 IN 161 in Rockport, 10 mins north of Owensboro. The venue will show movies on weekends with tickets at $12 for ages 12+ and $6 for kids 4-11; cards are accepted at the ticket booth + concession stand.  The Owensboro Times
  • Owensboro resident Karrington True was crowned United States of America’s Miss Sunday night in Las Vegas, earning her first national pageant title. She will travel extensively to support community service projects, including a trip to Washington, D.C. for America’s 250th anniversary celebrations.  The Owensboro Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students from local high schools competed at OCTC's second Trade Wars competition on campus, earning honors in technical fields while receiving medals and banners. Registration is open for a healthcare-focused session on April 17 (next event).  The Owensboro Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Kentucky lawmakers have restored funding for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library after a draft budget proposed cuts, keeping the monthly book mailings for young children running. The move is expected to boost enrollment among low-income and foster care families.  WDRB

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Realtor Natalie McCaslin showcased a geodesic dome home on Newbolt Rd in East Daviess County featuring three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and basement potential for extra rooms.   • Owensboro Catholic won the 3rd Region All A Tournament 10-3 after eighth grader Karson White's two-run double in the sixth inning sparked a rally with RBI plays and errors from Trinity (Whitesville).
