A group led by Owensboro Daviess County Veterans Association is seeking public and government support to fund a life-size bronze monument honoring female veterans at the downtown riverfront near the Shelton Memorial.

The project—targeted for June 12—is aiming to raise $350,000 for its completion.

Nelson Home and Company, launched last fall by Josh & Will Nelson, has grown quickly in Owensboro by offering design, remodeling, staging, and seasonal decorations while giving back through its Wreaths of Purpose that fed over 60 families.

The firm will add staff later if demand grows.

Yellow Banks, an Owensboro band, will perform on the infield stage on May 31 at Nashville Superspeedway ahead of the Cracker Barrel 400 (they earned the spot after winning Nashville Superspeedway's Next Rising Star contest at Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row).

Owensboro Community and Technical College is now accepting registration for its 2026 Vibration Certification training programs at its downtown campus at 1501 Frederica St. The courses start May 4, June 1, and November 9 with registration deadlines and costs varying, and workers can call 270—686—4444 for more details.
