COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Baird Private Wealth Management, currently at Union Station, will soon move to 1935 Frederica Street and donate used office furniture (desks, chairs, filing cabinets) to local nonprofits. Recipients include the Boulware Mission, the Senior Community Center, and the Daviess County Volunteer Fire Departments.  The Owensboro Times
  • Retired DCSO K-9 Astor passed away on Saturday, March 28 after serving alongside Corporal Russ Day (from 2017 to 2025) and leaving a lasting mark in public safety. Officials will announce plans to honor his contributions soon.  WOMI Owensboro
  • The Owensboro-Daviess County Senior Community Center held an open house Tuesday at Carter Road & West 2nd Street to show its unfinished spaces for meals, exercise and events. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Wild Side Rehab of Western KY is asking locals to volunteer as wildlife rehabbers and care for injured, orphaned, or displaced animals in several counties including Owensboro. SPORTS NEWS

  • In 9th District baseball games on Tuesday, April 14, Apollo beat Owensboro 8-4 with combined efforts from Ty Lillop and Ryleigh Logan, while Hancock County lost 11-6 to Butler County and Trinity (Whitesville) fell 17-5 to Grayson County.  The Owensboro Times
  • Owensboro hosts the Kentucky 2A Baseball and Softball Championships on April 17 and 18 as baseball begins at Apollo High School at 10 AM and softball starts at Jack C. Fisher Park at 12 PM on Friday, with championship games concluding on Saturday.  The Owensboro Times
  • On April 14, local softball games saw Daviess County beat Owensboro Catholic 18 to 2 and Hancock County win 11 to 1 over Owensboro Christian; Trinity won 4 to 1 over Butler County, Breckinridge County edged Owensboro 8 to 7, and Muhlenberg County defeated McLean County 15 to 0.  The Owensboro Times
