- ➤ Nearly 40 distilleries will join the bourbon tasting event at Owensboro Convention Center on May 10 with VIP hour beginning at 3 p.m. and general admission at 4 p.m.—officials said well-known names such as Buffalo Trace, Maker's Mark and Angels Envy will appear along with new brands as additional bourbon pairings and a golf fundraiser are scheduled on May 8 and 9. - ➤ A contractor working for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is improving KY 81 in Daviess County by milling edge keys along the shoulder and smoothing joints near KY 1514 — the work zone runs from the McLean County line to Windy Hollow Restaurant in Moseleyville and work is expected to finish by 5 p.m. today. - ➤ The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is offering an alternative site for hail damage vehicle inspections today at the old Malco Theater parking lot at 5333 Frederica Street with hours from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Drivers must bring a fixed windshield, a letter from the insurance company showing hail damage exceeding 75% of the car's value, an original title, a valid driver’s license, and $15 in cash or check—after the inspection, they have to visit the County Clerk’s Office to brand the title with an $11 fee. - ➤ Owensboro is investing in outdoor recreation with major improvements planned for Rudy Mines trails and new pickleball courts set to open in city parks; bids for both projects are expected early this summer with work to be finished by fall.
