- ➤ The City of Owensboro will celebrate Arbor Day at Waymond Morris Park on Friday, April 25 at 11 a.m.—the event will include an official proclamation and the planting of October Glory Maple trees sponsored by Bell Bank, and if rain occurs it will be moved to May 2. 44 News
- ➤ Blaine Mathews has been hired as Director of Advancement at the Daniel Pitino and St. Benedict Shelters to strengthen their efforts in fighting homelessness in Daviess County. - ➤ Khaibar Shafaq, director of Migration and Refugee Services for Catholic Charities of Owensboro, will share his personal refugee journey—he fled Afghanistan in 2021—and explain the U.S. resettlement process at a free Owensboro Area World Affairs Council event on April 30 at 7 p.m. at Owensboro Community and Technical College Main Campus, Blandford Lecture Hall in the Humanities Building. - ➤ Friday After 5 announced its 2025 schedule at McConnell Plaza in downtown Owensboro, unveiling an 11-week season that will run every Friday from May 16 through August 1 and feature a mix of national touring, regional, and upcoming acts. - ➤ Friday After 5 will start May 16 and run through August 1 — offering free live concerts by nationally touring acts and hometown favorites on the Owensboro riverfront along with the Kroger Street Fair that brings local vendors and family activities. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday, April 24th, the Daviess County Conservation District will give away over 3,000 tree seedlings at Yellow Creek Park in Owensboro. The giveaway features varieties such as Eastern Redbud—each person may take only 10 seedlings and distribution will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. or until supplies run out. 14 News

- ➤ Officials said that on April 21 flooding had persisted for 19 days in the KYTC district and water levels dropped steadily even though several roads remained closed.
