- ➤ On Tuesday, Owensboro officials approved a regional agreement that partners with Owensboro Community and Technical College, Daviess County Fiscal Court, Henderson, and Madisonville to pool EMT candidates from several fire departments for an accelerated certification program + improve training efficiency. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ The Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport board updated Tuesday night on its transition to United Express, noting that federal officials are expected to decide by mid-June and that service may begin in late summer. The board also approved $2 million in state funding for capital improvements (distributed as $1 million per year). The Owensboro Times
- ➤ Amanda Rogers, director of Owensboro Parks and Recreation, announced her retirement effective Nov. 1 after nearly three decades of service as she built a parks system that grew from neighborhood pools to a nationally recognized riverfront asset. - ➤ On April 21, Owensboro rallied from 4-3 to beat the Panthers 5-4, with Ty Ashley and Nash Miller key in a late comeback; Muhlenberg County edged McLean County 8-7 and Trinity (Whitesville) fell 14-5 to Butler County. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ On April 21, local softball teams played in district games. Daviess County beat Owensboro Catholic 12-2, Apollo defeated Butler County 5-4, Hancock County shut out Ohio County 10-0, Hopkins County Central beat McLean County 8-2, and Trinity of Whitesville won 10-0. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ Owensboro Middle School will host the Special Olympics Kentucky Area 2 Track and Field meet on Saturday, Apr. 25 with more than 120 athletes from several counties competing. Opening ceremonies start at 10 a.m. with competitions at 10:30 a.m., including participation from local flag football team members on Team Kentucky. 44 News
