- ➤ Kneadful Creations, a new self-serve bakery at 1818 Westview Drive in Owensboro, offers freshly baked pastries and savory breads plus treats for pets and accepts Venmo and Cash App for both in-store purchases and pre-orders with a 2-day lead time and a $7 order minimum. WOMI Owensboro
- ➤ Texas Roadhouse will open its new Owensboro location on June 9 and close the current restaurant after service on Mother’s Day, May 11. Demolition of the building at 943 Moseley Road will begin on May 15 — the new 8,683-square-foot restaurant is designed with more efficient seating and a dedicated area for to-go orders—to offer guests a faster, improved dining experience. - ➤ Big Dipper—one of Owensboro's oldest eateries—has been named Kentucky's best cult-favorite restaurant by LoveFood, with locals praising its classic burgers and spicy chili. - ➤ Residents affected by recent flooding now have a new option for disposing of damaged materials as a temporary collection site opened Tuesday at Stanley Park — located at 59 Church Street — where containers were provided for household waste, construction debris and sandbags until May 3. They had to check in off U.S. 60 to document their address, and appliances had to be taken to recycling centers if they did not contain Freon. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ A temporary debris drop-off site opened Tuesday at Stanley Park for Daviess County residents to dispose of flood affected interior home debris including household waste, construction and demolition debris and sandbags. The site operates until May 3 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and residents must complete check-in documentation at the station off U.S. 60 + the service is free for eligible interior home items. 14 News

- ➤ On April 21, Owensboro's boys tennis team beat Apollo 9-0 while the girls lost 5-4, and Hancock County split with Breckinridge County as the boys won 5-0 and the girls lost 3-2. In a separate match, Owensboro Catholic swept Meade County 5-0 in both boys and girls contests. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ On April 21, baseball games ended with wins for Hancock County and Owensboro while Apollo, Daviess County, and Trinity—Whitesville lost. University Heights won 2-1 over Apollo, Breckinridge County beat Daviess County 2-1, Hancock County defeated the Owensboro Knights 12-3, Owensboro blanked Ohio County 10-0, and Butler County won 11-3 over Trinity—Whitesville. - ➤ The Special Olympics Kentucky Area 2 Track and Field Meet returns to Owensboro Middle School this Saturday with opening ceremonies at 10 a.m. and competition at 10:30 a.m.—more than 120 athletes from several counties will compete for a chance to advance to the State Summer Games scheduled for June 6-8. It is the second of three weekend meets statewide, with the season concluding on May 10 in Louisville. 14 News
- ➤ Mitchell Johnson, a key part of the OHS girls volleyball program under Melissa Hibbs for five seasons, was named head coach after Hibbs resigned following 13 seasons and a Region Championship win—he said he will continue building on the strong relationships with returning players, most of whom are sophomores.
