Jeff Struecker — a Black Hawk Down veteran and former chaplain — will speak at National Day of Prayer events on May 6–7 at RiverPark Center and on the courthouse lawn, sharing his story and urging local unity.

Volunteer Owensboro has partnered with the Nonprofit Coalition of Owensboro to launch a new interactive website that connects local nonprofits and provides a community calendar.

The free service uses a social media-style interface — letting organizations share events and resources to ease planning.

Fred Noe, Jim Beam master distiller, will headline the BBQ & Barrels Bourbon Experience in Owensboro, sharing his Beam family story during a live session.

The event will feature over 44 distilleries and bourbon classes with a live reveal on May 9 at the Convention Center.

Owensboro Community & Technical College held its 2026 Going Pro Healthcare Signing Day on April 14 at the Industry Innovation Center to honor soon-to-be healthcare professionals from nursing, radiography and veterinary technology programs who will graduate in May.

The event showcased partnerships with local healthcare employers.

Daviess County’s girls tennis team overcame an early deficit to beat St. Mary’s 6-3 today with strong singles and doubles wins.

Coach Dylan McDuffee said the victory will boost team energy ahead of Tuesday’s game against Apollo.

On April 25, the Raiders won two championship games by beating Community Christian 4-1 and Highlands Latin 12-11, while McLean and Daviess counties split doubleheaders and Owensboro teams lost to Franklin Simpson and University Heights.

The games showed tight scores in local baseball matchups.
