BUSINESS NEWS

  • Kim Roberson, owner of Kim’s Diner, announced a fundraiser to buy the building at 1212 East 18th Street after her landlord said he will sell the property and she received the first option to purchase it. On Saturday, May 3, the diner will serve sack lunches from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.—a cheeseburger or hotdog with chips—and she is also offering photography services to help raise funds.  The Owensboro Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A new Storybook Walk will be unveiled at Legion Park on May 1 at 4 p.m. The event is hosted by the Public Life Foundation, Daviess County Public Library, and Owensboro Parks & Recreation (free children's books will be available while supplies last).  The Owensboro Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Owensboro native Dartanyan Tinsley signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent after the NFL Draft on Saturday—he will join rookie minicamp next weekend and plans to return to Owensboro soon to reconnect with local fans.  The Owensboro Times
  • Owensboro Catholic beat Hazard 12 to 2 to reach the semi-finals of the All A Classic Statewide Baseball Tournament, with Barrett Evans hitting a three-run home run using a hyphen for clarity. The Aces will face Raceland today at 8:30 a.m. and the winner will move on to the championship game later this afternoon.  The Owensboro Times
  • Two Trinity anglers qualified for the KHSAA state tournament after a final largemouth bass catch secured their spot, and they will compete at Lake Cumberland on May 9-10. Coach BJ Fitzgerald said the team will practice on the new lake soon — hoping to earn the school's first state title in bass fishing.  The Owensboro Times
