- ➤ Runner Steven Smith, who is running from California to Virginia, passed through Owensboro this week while pushing a decorated stroller on U.S. 60 and reconnecting with local friends who cheered him on. - ➤ Downtown Owensboro is hosting a multi-day Derby celebration from today through Saturday that brings together local restaurants, shops, and entertainment. Second Street will be closed Thursday and Friday evenings for outdoor vendors while businesses offer extended hours, themed food and drink specials, and a prize card promotion with donated prizes. - ➤ The Owensboro Catholic League dedicated its new playground Tuesday evening behind St. Pius X Catholic Church, adding slides, swings, climbing structures + picnic tables to boost the youth baseball and softball complex.
