- ➤ From today to May 3, yard sales are taking over the tri-state region — including a 50-mile event along Highway 54 where vendors offer antiques, collectibles, and household items. Local communities host sales at neighborhoods, churches, and estates while visitors enjoy bargain hunting in Owensboro and nearby areas. WOMI Owensboro
- ➤ Officials unveiled plans for a new 23,000-square-foot center on an eight-acre lot at the corner of 2nd + Carter streets today, with Hayden Construction set to break ground later this spring and a move-in planned before the end of 2026. The center will include a chapel + larger auditorium along with upgraded fitness spaces and a walking trail to better serve local seniors. The Owensboro Times
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Daviess County Sheriff’s Office and Daviess County Fire Department are responding to a non-injury vehicle fire on the 1300 block of the Wendell Ford Expressway east of the Tamarack overpass—both eastbound lanes are closed for traffic, causing delays. 14 News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ This summer, OMG!Con returns to Owensboro with a three-day celebration featuring anime, gaming, and pop culture events. The family-friendly festival runs from June 20—22 at the Owensboro Convention Center. 14 News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A free workshop will take place this Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the GRADD office where three local children's book authors will share stories on emotional well-being + anxiety and positive decision-making with parents, caregivers, educators, and other professionals. Hosted by the Green River Area Community Collaboration for Children Regional Network, the event will offer a light breakfast and coffee while using federal and state funds. The Owensboro Times
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Beshear is seeking FEMA approval for Individual Assistance in 16 Kentucky counties, including McLean, to help families recover from severe April flooding. In McLean, officials have begun mosquito control and debris removal and plan to use recovery funds for repairs and future flood prevention—county representatives say the additional aid will boost local recovery efforts.
