- ➤ Audubon Area Community Services is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a community event on May 17th in Owensboro. The event runs (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) at 1700 West 5th Street and will offer free shaved ice, a light lunch and fun activities while highlighting programs in early childhood education, housing, healthcare and career readiness. 44 News
- ➤ Mattingly Target Shooting Range reopened after a major flooding event in April—no injuries occurred as equipment was moved to higher ground. The facility, formerly known as the Daviess County Gun Club, is located seven miles east of Owensboro on Pup Creek in Maceo and now hosts shotgun sports including skeet, trap and sporting clays. - ➤ The 12th annual Christmas Wish Golf Scramble will be held at Ben Hawes Golf Course on September 5 and will help provide gifts and meals to local families. The Daviess County Fire Department raised almost $40,000 last year + team sign-ups begin after July 1 with sponsorship opportunities available now. Daviess County

- ➤ Gordon Ford Services recalled tomatoes sold in Kentucky and Indiana after finding evidence that they might be contaminated with salmonella — retailers are now handling returns and refunds. WDRB
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Downtown Owensboro will host the BBQ & Barrels festival from Friday, May 9 to Saturday, May 10 with tickets available online starting at 3 for $10 and at festival booths this weekend. A 50/50 raffle already raised over $10,000 and its grand prize—half the funds—will be awarded with entries accepted until May 11 at 11:59 p.m. 14 News

- ➤ The Daviess County Solid Waste Department has extended the temporary flood debris collection site at Stanley in Stanley Park until Friday, May 9 to let residents drop off flood-affected interior home debris at no charge from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Friday + roll-off dumpsters are available for household waste, construction debris and sandbags while appliances must be recycled elsewhere. - ➤ Gov. Andy Beshear announced the state now accepts applications for Disaster Unemployment Assistance for Hopkins County residents whose work was halted by last month’s severe storms—affected workers can apply on the Kentucky Career Center website or call 502-564-2900 and may receive help from April 6 until October 25. 14 News
