  • Owensboro’s signature barbecue festival returns with expanded bourbon experiences, free concerts, food vendors, carnival rides & artisan craft expo across the Convention Center, Smothers Park, and Courthouse lawn; it runs Friday, May 8 from noon to 10 p.m. and Saturday, May 9 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.  The Owensboro Times

  • RiverValley Behavioral Health is offering comprehensive recovery services to help families rebuild their lives.   • Residents in Daviess County with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance no longer face extra ambulance bills after American Medical Response and Anthem reached an in-network agreement effective April 1 — Daviess County Judge-Executive Charlie Castlen said the deal fixes a long-standing problem.  The Owensboro Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • On May 6, Owensboro Catholic beat Apollo 6-2 behind Taylor Clark's two-run triple and Daviess County outscored Heritage Hills 11-1 with Shelby Bennett's three RBIs in decisive 9th district softball contests.  The Owensboro Times
  • Arena Wars Fighting Series is coming to the Owensboro Sportscenter on Saturday, Aug. 8. The event will feature kickboxing, MMA, boxing, Muay Thai, and bare knuckle fighting & details on matchups, ticketing, and guest appearances will be announced later.  WOMI Owensboro
  • On May 6, Owensboro Catholic overcame a 4-0 deficit to complete a 7-5 comeback win against Breckinridge County while Hancock County won 3-2 after a walk-off, and Apollo lost 5-4 to Evansville Mater Dei in extra innings after a 3-3 tie.   • The quarterfinals and semifinals of the 3rd Region Tennis Tournament ended today, setting the stage for championship matches as local teams advanced in singles and doubles with several players qualifying for the State Tournament.  The Owensboro Times
  • Apollo bass fishing advanced to the State Tournament for the third time after a strong performance at the Region Tournament, with two boats qualifying for the first time in school history. The team is practicing at Lake Kentucky+ aiming for a top 10 finish this weekend.  The Owensboro Times
