  • Friday After 5 kicks off tonight with its 30th anniversary season at the downtown riverfront — the free event runs until Aug. 7 and features live music, food, and community fun. Highlights include a drone show on July 3 and an anniversary concert on July 10.  The Owensboro Times
  • Encore Musicals of Owensboro will transform Kentucky Wesleyan College’s Jack T.   • Owensboro city leaders announced the 2026 Live on the Banks free concert series, starting Saturday, May 16 and running every Saturday until September 26. Concerts will be held at the Overlook stage from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  44 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Emerson Academy graduated 43 students at its ceremony. Kaydon Vineyard said attending the school gave him a second chance, marking the beginning of something much bigger for the new graduates.  Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer
  • Emerson Academy held a graduation rehearsal today at Owensboro High School auditorium where seniors practiced stage walking and reviewed procedures ahead of the 6:00 p.m. ceremony tonight.  14 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials set up a new traffic light on Hayden Road at the entrance to a Publix; it will become fully operational Thursday, May 21. Drivers on Hayden will see a flashing yellow while side-road traffic must stop on a flashing red.  14 News
  • Yesterday, the Owensboro Fire Department held a ribbon-cutting for its new Station 3 featuring upgraded bunks, improved safety measures, private quarters, fitness areas, and a built-in tornado safe room, and Cravens Elementary leadership students toured the facility to learn how its design reduces contamination risks for firefighters.  The Owensboro Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • The finals of the 3rd Region Team Tournament are set, with Owensboro Catholic facing Grayson County on the boys’ side and Daviess County playing Owensboro Catholic on the girls’ side at Merchant Centre Court today (4:00 p.m.).
