  • VFW Post 696 in Owensboro opened its Remembrance Field of Poppies on Friday and the display remains open through Memorial Day weekend. Local veterans maintain the red & white poppies as a tribute to fallen heroes.  14 News
  • Today, Owensboro residents gathered at Owensboro Memorial Gardens for the 28th annual A Day of Remembrance to honor fallen military heroes. The ceremony featured a dove release plus a veteran food drive, and another service is set for tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Veterans Triangle inside Rosehill-Elmwood Cemetery.  14 News

  • Advantage Eye Care is relocating its Whitesville office to a new facility at 4367 Springhill Drive near Owensboro to meet growing patient demand; the facility features six exam rooms and advanced imaging + tech and is expected to open around Aug. 1.  The Owensboro Times

  • The Owensboro Museum of Science and History will host a members-only Summer Fest on Saturday, May 30 from 2-6 p.m. at the museum. Families can enjoy carnival games, crafts, free food, goody bags, a silent disco from 4-6 p.m.+ photos with Columbo are available.  The Owensboro Times

  • Owensboro native Tyler Lashbrook is being considered for the Portland Trailblazers head coach job and currently serves as an assistant with the Celtics (since 2024). The 34-year-old, a graduate of Apollo High and Western Kentucky, is one of several competitors in a tight coaching search.  14 News
