CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Starting June 3, the Owensboro Museum of Science and History will open on Tuesdays in addition to its hours Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children 2 and under — a revised schedule that gives families more summer chances to explore the museum. - ➤ RiverPark Center will host Bourbon and Bags for Broadway on August 7 at 5 p.m. to bid on bourbon bottles and designer handbags and to raise funds that will help local students attend Broadway shows at the center. Last year’s fundraiser raised $84,000 and allowed nearly 300 students to see professional theater for the first time. The Owensboro Times

- ➤ A new Disaster Recovery Center opened in Daviess County to help residents affected by severe April storms at the Stanley Fire Department in Stanley, and it offers help with FEMA applications and referrals. The center is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 7 p.m.—affected residents should apply for disaster aid by June 25th. 44 News

- ➤ RiverValley Behavioral Health will hold a free QPR Suicide Prevention Training on May 30 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The Gathering Pointe, 400 East 4th Street, to teach community members how to spot and respond to suicide signs + the event supports efforts during Mental Health Awareness Month. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ Madison Wells, an Owensboro native accepted as a charity runner for the New York City Marathon, will run in memory of her daughter Ruth—who died at 7.5 months old due to complications from CMV. She is organizing a 5K in Owensboro on June 14 at 8 a.m. at Joe Ford Nature Center—aiming to raise $5,000 by late October and spread awareness about the virus. The Owensboro Times
