COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Community leaders visited northern Kentucky last month to tour the Life Learning Center, noting it as a model to consolidate local addiction, mental health, and workforce services. They said Owensboro’s strong resources are scattered — urging more coordinated planning for long-term recovery.  The Owensboro Times
  • The Owensboro community held its annual Memorial Day ceremony at the Sportscenter War Memorial on Monday morning, honoring 310 fallen veterans. Residents gathered to pay respect to those who served our nation.  Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer

CULTURE NEWS

  • A free songwriters showcase will take place tomorrow at Brasher’s Little Nashville as touring Americana and folk artists perform 15-minute sets to kick off conference week in the city. Doors open at 6 p.m. with music starting at 7 p.m., and the event is presented by Visit Owensboro.  The Owensboro Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • The E-Gals softball team advanced to the 3rd Region Tournament semis after Mollie Julian struck out 10 in seven innings during a win over Trinity—Apollo will face Hancock County next in the semi-finals.  The Owensboro Times
  • In the opening round of the 3rd Region baseball tournament on May 25, Owensboro Catholic beat Muhlenberg County 11-1, Apollo shut out Butler County 3-0, and McLean County edged Hancock County 1-0; Owensboro Catholic now faces Meade County while Apollo meets McLean County in the semifinals.  The Owensboro Times
  • Today, the Lady Panthers hit big with home runs that routed Edmonson County 18-2 in the 3rd Region Tournament. The team will now face Meade County in the semi-finals — showing strong efforts with consecutive grand slams.  The Owensboro Times
  • The Hancock County Lady Hornets won a walk-off 4-3 game against Ohio County today to advance to the 3rd Region Tournament semi-finals. They now prepare to face Apollo, a team they lost to earlier this season.  The Owensboro Times
