On June 10, the Opportunity Center of Owensboro and nine sister organizations will host the third annual We’ve Got Talent Too! talent show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring music, dance, comedy & more as judges select acts while food trucks serve lunch at the free event.
Local leaders shared insights during the Owensboro Chamber of Commerce’s Building Owensboro Panel today, guiding young professionals aged 21 to 40 on how partners across economic groups will strengthen the city's future.
The panel explored building networks for lasting progress.
🎭 Culture
The Blue Bridge Boys, an Owensboro bluegrass band, need votes in a national contest at the Earl Scruggs Music Festival, where they are one of five acts.
Vote until today to send them to a live showcase on June 6 at Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. in Mills River, North Carolina.
🎓 Education
Owensboro Community & Technical College is hosting weekly Express Enrollment Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Aug.
4 at its main campus on New Hartford Road; students can walk in or call to schedule in-person, phone or virtual appointments to complete fall enrollment tasks.
New Master Gardener interns in Owensboro are paired with experienced volunteers to guide them through a 1-year internship after completing a 14-week training course.
The program, launched in 2023, offers hands-on learning and community engagement at local sites (such as the Western Kentucky Botanical Garden).
Today, the OCTC Foundation received a $7,000 grant from Dollar General Literacy Foundation to aid adult literacy programs in Daviess, Hancock, McLean, and Ohio counties + fuel broader education efforts as part of a nearly $16 million donation campaign.

Commonwealth Connections, an Owensboro-based Medicaid waiver provider, will soon move into the former DCPS Learning Center (1700 Parish Plaza Drive) to expand services for people with disabilities.
The larger facility will allow the agency to add more therapies and supported employment opportunities.
An Owensboro family is hosting Strides 4 CMV: Running for Ruth 5K to honor their daughter and raise awareness about congenital CMV.
The race takes place on June 20 at Joe Ford Nature Park (Adkisson Greenbelt West) with registration starting at 8 a.m. and proceeds benefiting the National CMV Foundation.

Apollo Head Coach Stephen Julian adjusted the lineup by moving Tyler Hall to fourth, helping the team win 13-0 over Hancock County and return to the 3rd Region Championship for the first time since 2018 + they now prepare to face a Daviess County opponent.
Apollo (led by Ty Lillpop, who struck out 13) advanced to the 3rd Region Championship after beating McLean County 14-0, while Owensboro Catholic lost 3-0 to Meade County.
The Lady Panthers beat Meade County 7-1 today — Storey Hume’s three-run homer lifted Daviess to its seventh straight trip to the 3rd Region Championship game.
Head Coach John Biggs said the team played with strong determination as they gear up to face Apollo.
