  • The Owensboro Convention Center will host 4th Fest on Saturday, July 4, featuring fireworks at approximately 9:15 p.m., family fun with inflatables and an obstacle course, and food vendors offering classic treats, with tickets available online + at the box office.  44 News
  • Travis’s Trophy and Tackle, a new pay lake with flexible fishing tags and family-friendly pricing, opened along KY 144 West on April 24, and owner Travis Woosley plans to host community events for kids at the facility.  The Owensboro Times
  • The Owensboro Coin Club is growing its membership and community impact through monthly meetings at Kennergy Operations Center starting at 5:30 p.m. and programs like Coin Books for Kids and food drives for Crossroads Food Bank — showing a renewed drive for education and service.   • Seven Daviess County farm markets earned 2026 Kentucky Farm Bureau certification—meeting strict standards for quality, freshness, and service—and joined a program that connects local farmers with neighbors seeking locally grown products.  The Owensboro Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Former Owensboro High School student Kaysia Harrington, the first local admitted to Harvard since 1998, graduated from Harvard on May 28 with a Bachelor’s in social studies and African American history.  14 News
  • Owensboro Community & Technical College is hosting free information sessions for the TechX training program on June 9, July 8 and July 21 at 4 p.m. at its Industry Innovation Center lobby; attendees can tour the TechX lab, meet instructors and learn about enrollment and funding options.  The Owensboro Times
  • Owensboro Community and Technical College will host a free Downtown Campus open house on June 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1501 Frederica St (rain or shine) to offer facility tours, games, and details on workforce training and education programs.  The Owensboro Times

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • The Forks Up team sampled wings at Owensboro spots including Beef 'O' Brady’s (debuted 20 years ago), Mister B’s Pizza and Wings, PeezO’s, J’s Good Grub and two Mexican restaurants to compare sauces, textures and flavors for local wing lovers.  The Owensboro Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Owensboro Middle School boys & track and field team won their third consecutive state championship over the weekend after scoring 65 points and defeating East Hardin Middle School by 21 points; Boyle County placed third while the team posted state-best times in the relays.  The Owensboro Times
  • Owensboro will host the inaugural Bluegrass Clash Sports Summit this July, with 11 competitions and free live concerts downtown. Organized by Visit Owensboro and local partners, the event will attract thousands on July 10-12 and July 17-19.  The Owensboro Times
