COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Today the Knottsville Lions Club installed a new flag retirement drop box outside the Knottsville Fire Department to give residents a respectful way to retire worn out American flags ahead of Memorial Day. Club members built the box and will deliver collected flags to the local VFW for formal disposal — they also honor veterans and support local families in need. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ Owensboro native Reagan Durham is challenging herself to make 15,000 basketball shots to raise funds for three local charities—Play Like A Girl, Saving Paws Animal Rescue, and St. Jude’s. She has made nearly 3,000 shots so far and plans to shoot between 200 and 250 shots each day to help support her community. The Owensboro Times

- ➤ Crews responded to a vehicle fire on Interstate 165 in Daviess County at around 7:23 p.m. on Sunday—finding a passenger car fully involved and quickly putting out the flames with no injuries reported. TriStateHomepage.com

HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ LEAP Services opened on Jan. 29 at 1858 Triplett Street and now offers a Therapeutic Rehabilitation Program that helps local adults with severe mental illness through group therapy, life skills training, and social activities. The center will host a grand opening open house on Friday, June 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.—with tours, live music, and a ribbon cutting at 12:15, and it is accepting donations for displaced Davco Personal Care Home residents.
