- ➤ The Senior Community Center of Owensboro-Daviess County received a $50,000 grant from the Dart Foundation to support construction of its new facility designed for active seniors. The groundbreaking will be held at 1 p.m. on June 18 at the site on Carter Road and West 2nd Street — local government has also committed $5 million and matching funds to advance the project. - ➤ Crews have been installing new playground equipment at York Park for a few weeks and officials say the fresh play space for local children and families will open Wednesday + promising a modern area for safe play. 14 News

- ➤ HealthForce Kentucky and Owensboro Community & Technical College will hold a two-day open house at OCTC’s downtown campus June 5—6 to feature a high-tech mobile classroom and a fast-track CNA course offering 30 hours of classroom instruction and 16 hours of clinical work. The event will also include a Healthcare Career Fair on June 5 from 1—4 p.m. to connect job seekers with employers. The Owensboro Times
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Owensboro-Daviess County Metropolitan Planning Organization is amending its Transportation Improvement Program to use federal EV funds from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet for a charging station at 3220 West Parrish Avenue near U.S. 60 at the Greenfield Inn & Suites. Public comments are accepted through June 19, and KYTC will cover 80% of design and construction costs while the developer covers the rest (call 270-926-4433 or email [email protected]). - ➤ Crews have started work on the I-69 ORX project that will connect Henderson and Evansville; in Kentucky, construction began in summer 2022 and will finish by late 2025 while bridge work will start in 2027 and end by 2031.
