On Saturday morning, a large crowd gathered outside the courthouse in Owensboro to join the nationwide 'No Kings Day' protest.

Protesters carried signs saying 'No Kings Since 1776' and 'Hands off our Democracy' — similar rallies were held in Evansville and Henderson as part of the movement.

Gene’s Beans Coffee is a locally roasted brand that started when owner Andrew Keller and his team bought Big Turkey Foot Coffee and now roasts, packages, and sells single-origin beans sourced responsibly from women-led farms in Ethiopia, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, and Brazil. The company offers both whole bean and ground coffee available online—local spots like Great Harvest, Niko’s Bakery, and Gary’s Diner also carry the brand.

The Botanical Garden will host its 16th annual Daylily Festival on June 21 from 4-7 p.m.—the event will feature live bluegrass music by Lucy Jagoe Chaney and Emmie Kate Williams, food trucks, a petting zoo, a bubble station, and a DIY daylily pick-up option for $15 per clump.

Garden members and children under 18 enjoy free entry while non-member adults pay $5 starting at 4 p.m.
