Illuminate will transform downtown this fall as it debuts free from October 3 to 5 with 14 large installations, nightly drone shows, and live performances that let visitors interact with the art – city officials say the event has been planned for over six years and is expected to draw heavy crowds. Local organizers revealed more exhibits and programming will be announced in the coming months.
Owensboro’s old Fire Station 3 was torn down and is being rebuilt as part of a $30 million plan to modernize fire services.
The $6 million project, which nearly triples the station’s size, is set to finish in the first quarter of next year — firefighters now work on Lancaster Street until then.
