The Owensboro Police Department reported that five people were arrested on Friday after search warrants at two Thornton Avenue homes led to the seizure of large amounts of drugs, 13 rifles, cash & other items linked to a drug trafficking investigation.

Deputies responded to a fatal shooting on Thursday night near Saint Anthony Road off U.S. Highway 431 in Brown’s Valley when 57-year-old Darrin Ray Carter shot a man in the chest at close range—investigators noted the victim did not live at the home, was taken to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital where he later died, and Carter now faces manslaughter and other charges.
