🎓 Education
The Owensboro Family YMCA earned a 5-Star Rating for its child care program, the highest quality designation in Kentucky, after expanding services to include infant, toddler, and preschool care over the past four years.
It will add more full-day preschool and toddler openings this fall & credits local partners for their support.
🌲 Environment
Emergency crews responded to reports of storm damage in and around Fordsville after severe weather caused a tree to fall on a home and damaged a nearby barn - officials noted downed trees and water on roadways.
Residents are urged to avoid flooded roads as responders continue monitoring conditions.
🏛️ Government
Gov. Beshear declared a state emergency after torrential rain on Saturday led to dangerous flash flooding — causing road closures, evacuations and reported deaths — in parts of western Kentucky.
He warned a second round of heavy rainfall is expected between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m. today.
