  • Two family-run businesses anchor Main Street in Whitesville—Royal-Lampkin Feed and Farm Supply opened on April 7 in a former firehouse at 9950 Main Street offering drive-thru and delivery services, while Whitesville Florist at 10100 Main Street has served the community with custom arrangements for over 50 years.  The Owensboro Times

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A car accident with injuries blocked one westbound lane on the Wendell Ford Expressway yesterday in the 1600 block between Frederica Street and US 231 — officials advised drivers to avoid the area.  14 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • ROMP night 4 ended yesterday with glowing lights and music that brought a lively crowd to enjoy fun and peaceful moments — marking the event's final night.  The Owensboro Times
  • The Theatre Workshop of Owensboro will host the Summer Shorts Play Festival from July 11-20 at the Trinity Centre on 5th Street, featuring six world premiere one-act plays chosen from nearly 100 global submissions with shows at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays—while the festival will present a $1,000 prize for the highest-rated play and a $500 audience award.  The Owensboro Times
  • The Owensboro Museum of Fine Art will host its Museum Masterpieces summer art camp from July 28 to August 1 for children ages 6 to 15—free classes run daily from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. with guidance from professional artists and educators; reservations are required by calling 270-685-3181 or emailing the museum.  The Owensboro Times
  • Muhlenberg County native Kelsey Hart released his new single Fireworks last Friday—fresh off his first Top 30 hit on Billboard Country Airplay—and will perform the song at the Grand Ole Opry on July 2 and at Highland Farms Country Fest in Elizabethtown on August 29.  WOMI Owensboro

  • Owensboro Community & Technical College is offering its GO Careers program — a work-and-learn pathway that lets employees earn an associate degree in business administration while keeping full-time jobs; the next cohort starts August 18 with spots still available.  The Owensboro Times

HEALTH NEWS

  • Brittany Wethington opened her Owensboro family practice in July 2022 to offer both traditional Western medicine and functional care for patients of all ages—she provides services such as chronic disease management, well-child checks and toxin-free skin treatments using a Tixel device operated by her husband. The practice accepts new patients, offers commercial insurance and self-pay options, and operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  The Owensboro Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • A tournament for the Kentucky Special Olympics Softball League kicked off this weekend in Owensboro as 17 teams—Owensboro, Bowling Green, Marshall County, Murray, and Christian County—competed despite a rain and lightning delay. Local teams practiced since May and the season will run through September when the State Tournament begins at Jack Fisher Park.  The Owensboro Times
