  • Rippo Hinton leads Owensboro's 52-year-old Dust Bowl, a community basketball festival that unites neighborhoods with games, food and fun over 10 days. The event will begin Friday, July 18 with opening night at Beverly’s Hearty Slice—expected to draw over 600 fans—and will feature a gospel service, health outreach and kids day.  The Owensboro Times

  • A new cocktail lounge named 1885 is coming to Owensboro near the intersection of Griffith Avenue and Frederica Street — owner Daniel Keaveney is turning his 20-year dream into an adults-only venue that will serve craft cocktails, local beers, and upscale food with a unique single bottle program and plans for event rentals.  The Owensboro Times

  • Owensboro’s neighborhood swim clubs once brought kids together at local pools where bike rides, team practices, and city meets built lasting bonds—former swimmers now remember these summer days with nostalgia. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Owensboro is accepting applications for HOME-ARP funding to support affordable multi-family rental housing projects designed for those at risk of homelessness and survivors of domestic violence. Applicants including experienced housing developers must submit proposals electronically via the City’s Bonfire Portal where the full RFA and instructions are available.  The Owensboro Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Owensboro Bombers split Saturday's doubleheader—losing 4-3 to Huntsville and winning 6-4 over Tupelo—and beat the Pontotoc Red Sox 9-8 on Sunday with a strong performance from Jagger Pate. Coach Matt Freeman said the win boosts team confidence as they prepare to face the top-seeded club in the upcoming tournament.  The Owensboro Times
  • Paul Oman from Evansville won the Mixed Pro 40+ group at the PDGA Professional Masters World Championship final after he tied for first at the end of regulation and then won a playoff on Saturday—Owensboro native Dutch Napier shot a bogey on the final hole.  14 News
