  • Today, the annual First Responders BBQ hosted by Wendell Foster and Chamber Young Professionals is taking place at Wendell Foster’s Sensory Park to honor Owensboro and Daviess County first responders with free lunch, ice cream, yard games, music — provided by Blue Line Entertainment — and door prizes. CULTURE NEWS

  • Owensboro and Daviess County have a long tradition of serving mutton at barbecues because records show that more sheep than cattle were raised in the 1860s and the meat now costs about $14.95 per pound—much higher than beef—making it a prized delicacy at select local restaurants.   • Encore Musicals presents Legally Blonde: The Musical at RiverPark Center today at 7 p.m.—additional shows will run on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m., featuring catchy music and dynamic choreography based on the hit film.  The Owensboro Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After a semi-truck hit the Carter Road Bridge over Wendell Ford Expressway, crews evaluated the damage and will post signs Thursday as they prepare for repair work that starts Monday. The project—causing lane closures on Westbound US 60 and Carter Road—is set to finish by September.  14 News
