CRIME NEWS

  • The Owensboro Police Department is asking for help to locate 15-year-old Uriah Lattimore, who has been missing since Wednesday—he was last seen wearing a white shirt, gray jeans and black Crocs.  14 News
  • An Owensboro man, Donald Adams, was arrested Friday in Warren County at the Mint Gaming Hall when officers found a firearm in his car during a search for his over $200,000 in active warrants — he now faces charges for the warrants and illegal handgun possession.  TriStateHomepage.com

CULTURE NEWS

  • Veterans Empowered Together and the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum will host Camp Enlisted, a free three-day songwriting session for veterans from July 28th to 30th each evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Participants will work with professional musicians to craft and perform songs based on their life experiences — the camp is part of the Enlisted: Songs from a Veteran initiative.  The Owensboro Times

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Daviess County Landfill released the final batch of compost for the year; the process starts with curbside leaf collection in Owensboro and adds biosolids that heat the pile to 130 degrees for a two-week period before screening. The compost is sold at 7772 Kentucky Highway 815—Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to Noon for $22.00 per cubic yard.  Daviess County

  • The Owensboro Police Department will host its Citizens' Academy beginning August 21st, offering a nine-week series of three-hour evening classes where residents learn about patrol operations, criminal investigations, and other law enforcement procedures—optional ride-alongs and role-playing add hands-on experience.  WOMI Owensboro
