  • On Wednesday, United Way of the Ohio Valley honored local businesses and community members for their contributions to its annual campaign, recognizing efforts in employee engagement, creative marketing and community investment — winners included Audubon Area Community Services, German American Bank, Hendrick Screen Company and Owensboro Municipal Utilities.  The Owensboro Times
  • Sleep in Heavenly Peace has reached a milestone of 1,000 beds built for children with help from local volunteers and donors, and a milestone build event will take place on August 9th — additional build projects are scheduled for later this year.  WOMI Owensboro
  • Puzzle Pieces in Owensboro announced that teams can now sign up for the Best Friend Battle at the 2026 Owensboro Lip Sync Battle fundraiser, which supports services for over 400 individuals with disabilities.   • Jeffrey Reddick, a Kentucky film director who created the Final Destination series, has ties to Owensboro through his role as producer on New Fear's Eve with local filmmakers from Blood Moon Pictures—his career connections highlight a proud local link to the movie world.  WOMI Owensboro
  • Country artist Ashland Craft will headline Friday After 5 tomorrow in Owensboro with special guests Dan Hall and Hayley Payne as part of her Dive Bar Beauty Queen tour. At Mitch McConnell Plaza, Payne is set to perform on the Main Stage at 7 p.m.—followed by Hall at 7:40 and Craft at 8:30.  The Owensboro Times
  • Residents in our Tri-State area can plan to watch shooting stars during upcoming meteor showers. The Perseid meteor shower is active from mid-July until late August and additional peaks occur on August 12th—just before dawn on August 13th, October 8th, October 20th to 21st, November 12th, November 17th, December 13th to 14th and December 22nd to 23rd.  WOMI Owensboro
