COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Reid’s Orchard will host its third annual Sunset Flower Market Day on July 27th from 4–8 p.m. at Katie’s You-Pick Flower Field, where visitors will pick custom bouquets, listen to live music, and enjoy food trucks, a mini golf course, and a petting zoo with horse and pony rides.  The Owensboro Times
  • The Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce is hosting the summer edition of Shop Owensboro today with special deals and discounts from local businesses — the event began in July 2020 to support local commerce. Sponsored by Independence Bank, the event will offer shoppers a chance to support local retail and dining this weekend.  The Owensboro Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • Clowns from five countries have taken over Owensboro for a three-day conference called the International Clown Conference. Event organizer Margaret Bedilion said performers are showcasing their new tricks and workshops to change the way people think about clowning—bringing fresh talent and art to the community.  14 News
  • Owensboro is hosting the International Clown Conference, which started Thursday and will run until Sunday. The event brings clowns from around the world—featuring performances and workshops—while officials say attendance has nearly tripled since the first year.  TriStateHomepage.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, Owensboro firefighters received rope access training at the Walter Freeman Fire Training Center in Daviess County to improve their ability to reach victims when ladders cannot be used. They will conduct this training on Fridays for the next few weeks— sharpening their technical skills in difficult situations.  14 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Hockey Heroes is a local nonprofit that gives free ice time, coaching, and equipment so people of all ages can try hockey. The group will host a 5k race—set for August 23 at Yellow Creek Park—to raise money for more sleds and a traveling team.  The Owensboro Times
  • The Owensboro Bombers won the state tournament opener when Brady Atwell hit a two run homer and earned four RBIs for a 15—1 win over the Madisonville Rangers, and the team will play again at 1 p.m. today.  The Owensboro Times
