The Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport will host the free Treats on the Tarmac event on Oct.
24 from 3-6:30 p.m. where families can stroll among static aircraft to collect candy and meet pilots (sponsors and local businesses are welcome to join) as the annual tradition continues.
💼 Business
Southern Mamas Loaded Tea, a mobile business from Greenville, serves loaded teas, flavored drinks, and event catering in Owensboro.
Its twice-monthly Picnic in the Park donates vendor fees to local causes, and owner TeAnnah Widdrington said the business started from a kitchen-table idea.
Kona Ice in Owensboro has grown its family-run business by adding Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck (its sister brand serving coffee, tea, frozen drinks, and blended fruit smoothies) alongside its signature shaved ice.
The business continues to partner with local schools, sports teams and nonprofits to bring community events.

Livermore native Courtney Peek (a fourth and fifth-grade teacher at Livermore Elementary) was recently honored with the 'Best Play' award during Theatre Workshop of Owensboro's Summer Shorts series.

Daviess County Little League Softball 12U overturned a 1-0 deficit to win 11-1 against Northern California in the World Series opener today, August 3, 2026, and will face New England later to advance in the tournament.
