- ➤ Marlene’s Garden Center (a family-run business in eastern Daviess County) started from a small Christmas wish and grew from a 10-by-10 greenhouse to a 97-foot structure over 29 years. - ➤ Owensboro Mobile Tire has launched a new service that brings on-demand tire sales and installation straight to your driveway. Retired officer Scott Norris and Justin O’Bryan started the business to serve Owensboro, Daviess County and McLean County — appointments made before 5 p.m. may be scheduled for next-day service. - ➤ Daviess County Public Schools is holding a new peer-led professional learning day at Daviess County High School today to let educators share expert knowledge and choose sessions that meet their growth needs—district leaders say this model will boost collaboration and set a positive tone for the school year. Superintendent Charles Broughton and Assistant Superintendent Jana Beth Francis highlighted the switch from outside speakers to in-house expertise for a stronger learning culture. The Owensboro Times

- ➤ The Owensboro Police Department is inviting residents to apply for a free 10‑week Citizens Police Academy that begins August 21 and meets Thursday evenings from 6‑9 p.m. until October 30—applications are due by August 13 with class sizes limited to 25‑30 participants and a background check required. The academy will offer hands‑on demonstrations and discussions with divisions such as the Evidence Collection Unit, traffic officers, and detectives. The Owensboro Times
