- ➤ The Senior Community Center of Owensboro-Daviess County will host a free public program tomorrow at 5 p.m. at 1650 West Second Street — aimed at raising awareness of elder abuse, neglect and exploitation, with guidance coming from Deborah Middleton of Adult Protective Services and Daviess County Sheriff’s Office officials amid recent financial exploitation allegations. - ➤ Habitat for Humanity is building a cul-de-sac with 10 houses near Kentucky-144 and Glenn Court and has partnered with Audubon Area Community Services to provide free weatherization services that help keep utility bills low for income-eligible families — the first home will be ready for move-in in about one month. 14 News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The 27th annual Owensboro Multicultural Festival is scheduled for August 16 and will attract thousands on the lawn of First Presbyterian Church in Owensboro. The event will start at 10 a.m.—with music from a joint high school choir during the ceremony and a People’s Parade alongside more than 50 exhibit booths showcasing world cultures and community organizations. 14 News

- ➤ The City of Owensboro is hosting its annual liquidation surplus auction at the Owensboro Sportscenter. Pre-registration and inspection start at 2 p.m. today with the auction beginning at 10 a.m. tomorrow — buyers must remove all items by 5 p.m. The Owensboro Times
- ➤ Crews are repairing a damaged bridge beam on the U.S. 60 bypass near the Carter Road overpass and the road is closed today from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.—flaggers will guide drivers through detour ramps to protect them from falling debris. The Owensboro Times
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Owensboro Health Trauma Services and Daviess County Public Schools held a Stop the Bleed training for about 150 DCPS bus drivers and monitors that taught them life-saving skills to control bleeding. The hands-on event took place at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Daviess County Middle School Cafeteria and was led by trauma experts including Hannah Blanton. 14 News
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Owensboro Post 9 Bombers head to the American Legion Regional Tournament after winning their fifth straight Kentucky State Tournament. They will play an undefeated Jacksonville team in the opening round today at 11:30 p.m. with rain possibly delaying the game as coach Matt Freeman said Reed Sherrard will pitch and Parker Heistand will lead the offense.
